Another contest -- but a coloring contest!

I entered another contest to win a book, but this time it was a COLORING contest! How cool is THAT??? Heather Dixon is a genius to have a coloring contest joining the launch of her novel, ENTWINED, which is a "YA retelling of the 12 Dancing Princesses."

This is the one I chose to color because I love how she's dancing on the banister:

And my colorful rendition of Bramble, the gravity-defying dancing princess:

I had to move the words on the left because they were getting lost in my night window, but other than that, I left the original drawing alone.

I don't expect to win the prize of a copy of the book, ENTWINED, but I had fun and it was very cool to see someone step outside the box of the usual contest rules which usually involve posting and re-posting the link to the contest rules, etc.

Okay... now to get some real work done. LOL
Oh - and today is our 14th wedding anniversary, although it feels suspiciously like Tuesday.
:-)
Peace and ballerinas,
Cynthia

  2. Oh, excellent!! Yeah - I had fun with this. I'm used to coloring comic book art, so this was a little different! LOL

  3. I'll have to poke around and see some of your stuff! I wish I were talented with digital art, but alas...I played with colored pencils instead: http://simplelittlebookworm.blogspot.com/2011/03/carried-away-with-coloring.html

  4. Amy! Yours is wonderful! I love what you did with the windows and the eggs!! I have also done work in colored pencil, but most of my recent work and what you can find on my art blog -- http://www.raggedygah.com.

I'm going to add an art page to this blog, though, because I would like to do more illustrations for my EMERALD CAVE book. I drew and colored the faux cover you can see in the right-hand column here on this blog.

My digital art totally grew from decades of hand-drawn art plus a few years of editing photos in Photoshop, and I've been writing the whole time, too. :-)
    Peace and bubbles,
    Cynthia

  5. Aww, shucks. :) Thanks.

I would love to be more competent in Photoshop, but gotta find the time to do it all, right?
