Back on track...

It took over a week, but my desktop computer has been restored to its previous glory and is once again able to send a space shuttle into orbit. My husband and all of his heinous downloading has been banned forever (I had to have my computer guys tell him to stop), and I have two new external hard drives backing up my work, in addition to the old external hard drive and the second ghost one hiding in my tower they say I'm not allowed to play with even if I knew what to do with it.

That should do it.

During my Week of Technological Breakdown, I also came down with the Sinus Cold from Hell, and was barely able to get my kids out the door to school before crashing for another three hours every day. That's over, too. *whew* Just a regular kicking-my-ass week all the way around!

But now... I am happy to report I not only passed the 5,000-word mark for Billy Bead, I am through the first 10,000 words in Emerald Cave for revisions, and last night I outlined a new novel!

I always think there are no other stories in my brain, and then *BAM*!!!! There it is!
This is me... "OMG... what am I going to do? EVERY story has been written! How can I possibly come up with something new? How can I twist something old, add some sugar, some lemon, a shot of vodka..." oh, wait...

So this is what my brain kicked out this time (and it happens like this every time... I wonder if other writers' brains work like this)... seemingly unrelated elements of my life spend time swirling around in my grey matter, and then one night, when I'm standing there doing dishes AGAIN, like a freakin' servant girl, they coalesce into a story.

And this story, again, is not like any of my others. It is a high-concept story (Romeo & Juliet, although at first pitch, people might think it's Cinderella, but IT'S NOT...ho ho ho), and there are NO paranormal elements in it. At. All. I know, I was shocked, too.

It is a love story. It is Young Adult. And it does take place in the Pacific Northwest. Or, at least it gets going in the Pacific Northwest. It is boy meets girl, boy nearly dies, boy is rescued, they fall in deep like. Separation... boo! then love, and then the exciting ending. I can't wait to work on this one... at this point I am calling it NORMAL, but I am sure that will change. :-)

Happy writing.
Happy reading.

  1. Welcome to the world of the living once again. Congrats on your new story idea. I bet it will be fantastic and, yes, other authors think the same way.
