WORD COUNT UPDATE for Keeper of the Emerald Cave

Cruising toward 12,500 words... my goal is to hit 1,000 a day, but the last few days, in addition to being a holiday weekend, I hammered out quite a bit of backstory I had to write so I could move on with the story. It feels good to have that backstory written now, as well as a family tree so I can keep all of my people straight.

Relationships between the main characters and their individual motivations come into play as I write their story, and while this is an urban fantasy set in contemporary Seattle, there is some amount of world-building going on, so that has to be in place before I can tell the story.

I've also changed the name to "Keeper of the Emerald Cave" (dropped an "s" behind Keeper) to pull the focus to one person -- Denim, of course. But it is essentially the same, you might just notice a difference in past posts. Publishers have a little habit of changing the names of novels once they get their hands on them anyway, but this is my working title as it best describes what the book is about.

I have some of the usual house garbage to deal with this morning, but then hope to be adding to my word count later today.
